As the weather worsens, you don’t want that careful style to be undone by the wind or completely flattened by rain or your hood as you try to stay dry.

One of the big trends this year is the slicked back ponytail, which is great news if you don’t want your hair flying around your face in gale force winds or if you want to spend an extra ten minutes in bed on those frigid mornings… This style takes very little time. If you have naturally curly hair, smooth out the top and secure tightly then leave your curls to hang free – very feminine and very little effort. If you prefer the straight and sleek look, a spritz of heat protection and a quick glide with the straighteners is all you need before tying your hair back. Add a pretty accessory such as a flower hairband or some slides to make it your own. Height is up to you, both high and low ponytails have featured this year.
The high bun is still going strong and this is a great way to keep your hair in the one place while the wind does what it does best. But for goodness’ sake don’t fall into the trap of leaving it looking like you just rolled out of bed. Keep it smooth and sleek whether you decide on the Princess Leia side bun or piling it all on top of your head. A few loose wisps to soften the hairline is fine.
If you don’t want all your hair pulled away from your face, try a half up do. Backcombing at the crown seems to popular for this style (if you want the ‘conehead’ look) and keeping it sleek works best. Straighten as normal and section at the top of your ears. Pull this section back and secure behind your head leaving the rest loose. Simple and feminine. And if you want the sleek look to last all day, and you’re not blesses with naturally straight heair, invest in a good pair of straightening irons. Sally are great for professional products at discount prices, you should be able to pick up GHD straighteners cheap… And they have others available too.
